The BASIS Residency Program invites you to spend time in the unique cultural and ecological environment of South Tyrol. Here, artists, researchers, designers, technologists, and hybrid practitioners come together to collaborate, experiment, and explore new directions in an open atmosphere.
What matters most are encounters, exchange, and the discovery of new perspectives.
Our residency is deliberately transdisciplinary and offers several thematic focus areas – as inspiration, starting points, or playgrounds for your own ideas.
Our Focus Areas
- Revitalizing abandoned spaces – transforming architecture, infrastructure, and cultural heritage through creative interventions.
- Creative hubs – developing decentralized places as nodes for innovation, belonging, and “third spaces.”
- Digital & media production – using film, sound, augmented reality, code, and podcasts as tools for new forms of storytelling.
- Culinary residency – exploring food as a medium for exchange, culture, and sustainability.
- Environment & research – investigating ecological and economic change through both art and science.
The residency at BASIS Vinschgau Venosta is more than a workplace – it’s an immersion into an inspiring South Tyrolean environment. Whether for a few weeks or several months (2–24 weeks, recommended 1–4 months), the studios, production spaces, and workrooms are accessible around the clock, giving you the freedom to follow your own rhythm. At the same time, you become part of a vibrant community that comes together for shared dinners, offers insights at open studios, and presents work in exhibitions. This is where connections, ideas, and projects emerge that extend far beyond the residency itself.
