For the Open, Curious, Creative and Productive

The project “BASIS Vinschgau Venosta” is about creating a foundation for the existing business landscape in the Vinschgau/Venosta region – for creative people, new initiatives and startups as well as for the provision of knowledge-intensive services. The need for which has arisen due to a lack of innovation, performance and low economic development over that past decade or so. At the same time, the geographic distance to the NOI Techpark development centre located in the provincial capital of Bolzano and research institutions such as Fraunhofer Italia Research or the Free University of Bolzano, represent a major obstacle in securing the provision of required services. BASIS Vinschgau Venosta wants to network and through cooperation, make use of, and expand existing skills in the direction of creative technology and smart economy.

Free Learning

The clear objective of the infrastructure is to build and expand excellence in locally developed and anchored fields of competence. Implementing and linking outputs directly on site, turning the findings into practical applications in order to deepen and improve the research results, is how this goal can be ensured. At the same time, high-quality jobs are being created in the competence centre itself, which will give new impetus to Schlanders/Silandro and the entire Vinschgau/Venosta region. In addition, as smaller research groups temporarily settle, knowledge transfer can take place directly on site. An essential element of the BASIS project is the projected “FabLab”, a test environment for the practical innovation of companies in the Venosta valley. These workshops and laboratories have enough room for practical innovation, prototyping and testing and, can be used as an extended workbench by renowned and emerging companies, as well as schools. The workspaces offer opportunities for the exchange of skills and synergies.

Reuse and Renovation: bit by bit

BASIS Vinschgau Venosta wants to establish space for creativity, experimentation and organised working methods through the meaningful reuse and opening of the former Palazzina Servizi and in doing this, motivate the population to actively shape their living and economic environment. According to recent surveys and studies, these are the modules planned for the building over the next few years: startbase coworking a start-up and innovation centre for up-and-coming companies and start-ups, a multifunctional event space for conferences, clubbings and concerts, Salotto for smaller events and technological laboratories (digital and open workshop), Foodlab for processing and finishing, residencies for art and education as well as economic development, studios and open project spaces. The focus is on promoting trans-sectoral and intercultural thinking in terms of personal and charitable development, international networking and cooperation.

Sharing is Caring

We also like to share what we have at BASIS. In other words, under certain conditions you will be able to borrow equipment and machines in the future. At the moment the following are available for rental: Beamer, box wagon, Luca, Lukas, 3D printer or flip chart.

You want it? We got it! (Or soon will)

HUGE terrace overlooking the village church tower or retractable stage perhaps?
Our very own Hannes will take the time (be warned – one hour can quickly become half a day!) to explain to you, in detail, what BASIS is equipped with and what it will be equipped with in the near and distant future.
